Welcome back to the Acoma Animal Clinic blog. This month, we are taking a look at some of the most popular dog breeds in America. If we know one thing about modern America, it is that the country has gone absolutely dog crazy. Here at Acoma Animal Clinic, we couldn’t be happier! As a country that has gone dog crazy, it has gone particularly crazy for a few specific breeds. In our last post, we covered the two most popular, Labrador Retrievers and German Shepherds. Today, we are going to start off with the third most popular breed in the country!
- Golden Retrievers
Just like the first few names on this list, Golden Retrievers have held their position in the rankings for many years. Golden Retrievers are another young breed of dog, having been recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1925. They are described a medium energy, large sized breed. They are known for being devoted, friendly, and intelligent. Golden Retrievers were originally breed as hunting dogs and are very agile and hard working.
- Bulldogs
Bulldogs are a breed that have been gradually working their way up the rankings over the years. Bulldogs originated in the British Isles. That are considered “non-sporting” dogs. When it comes to appearance, they have faces that are very hard to resist. With a broad, square head, flat nose, and droopy cheeks, they are quite adorable. Bulldogs are known for being calm, friendly, and courageous. Bulldogs are incredibly strong for their size, giving them a stalwart and steady reputation. Even with all of these excellent traits, there is one that truly makes Bulldogs stand out – they just love to jump up on your lap and cuddle.
