  1. Berlin Zoological Garden, Berlin, Germany: If you didn’t know this, now you know that Berlin holds the world’s largest zoo. With 1,500 different species of animals covering a whopping eighty-four acre property, it will probably take more than one day to see everything that’s there.
  2. The Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, Powell, Ohio: Believe it or not, this zoo and aquarium in Ohio is the second largest in the world, and is actually owned and maintained by a non-profit organization. The Columbus Zoo & Aquarium is home to over 790 different species of animals, and rests on 580 acres of land.
  3. The Toronto Zoo, Toronto, Canada: Opened in 1974, this is the largest zoo in all of Canada, and the third largest zoo in the world. With just over 490 species of animals resting on 710 acres of land, The Toronto Zoo has won numerous, globally recognized awards for their attractions, cleanliness of the zoo, as well as their care of the animals they hold.
  4. Peiping Zoo, Beijing, China: Sitting on nearly 220 acres of land, the Peiping Zoo holds 950 different species of animal, with many of them being native to China. It is estimated that six million people visit the zoo on an annual basis.
  5. Russian Capital Zoo, Moscow, Russia: With over 920 different species of animals sitting on fifty three acres of land, the Russian Capital Zoo is actually one of the oldest zoos in all of Europe. They also have a small aquarium, which has a popular seal attraction for children.
