Spring is fully here! That means getting back out there and enjoying all the activities our lovely city has to offer! Welcome back to the Acoma Animal Clinic blog, this time around we are talking about one of our absolute favorite parts about Tucson – it’s so pet-friendly! If you’re itching to get out there and take your furry best friend with you, here are the places to go, things to do, and food to eat – all with Man’s Best Friend!
Pet Friendly Restaurants
Getting out and getting some grub is a classic way to spend time out and about with your pooch. Here are some of our favorite spots.
Mutts Premium Hot Dogs and Sausages
Open weekdays from 7:30 til 3pm, and on weekends 8 am – 3pm, Mutts has delicious hot dogs, breakfast burritos (vegetarian too!) crepes and more. It’s tucked away in Geronimo Plaza on 806 E. University Blvd.
Stray Dogs
With a name like this you know they love dogs! Open daily from 11am to 10pm, this great spot has everything you and Fido need to have the best brunch! Every weekend from 11 to 2, hit up the bottomless mimosas or stuff yourself on a huge loaded milkshake! They even have a play area for the dogs so you and your bud can make new best friends!
Cup Café at The Hotel Congress
Located at 311 E Congress St, the Cup Café offers a wide menu. Various internationally inspired cuisines, a bar for building your own Bloody Mary and, of course, the dog friendly patio! Choose from brioche French toast, tortilla soups, huevos rancheros, drunk fish tacos, and a whole lot more. They are open every day 7am to 10pm!
Caffe Torino Ristorante Italiano
Looking for something a bit different than brunch? Head out to Caffe Torino at 10325 N. La Canada Drive or 5605 E. River Rd Ste 121. The 18-year-old business serves casual Italian dining and welcomes pets to their outdoor tables. The Oro Valley location is open Tuesday through Sunday 8am to 9pm while at the Foothills they start serving with lunch at 11am.
Sentinel Peak Brewing Company
This micro brew pub serves their seasonal and flagship beers as well as paninis, street tacos, loaded nachos, and flatbread pizzas! While you sit out on the patio and enjoy the eats, your dogs are welcomed and provided with a water bowl to enjoy a drink of their own after the walk. Located at 4746 E. Grant Rd, you can’t miss ‘em!
Pet Friendly Activities in Tucson
After you have sat down to a meal and fueled up with your furry friend, it is time to get out there and seize the day! Here are activities around the city that your dog is welcome to join you to. Luckily Tucson is filled with great parks and trails!
Tucson Botanical Gardens
Head out to this oasis during the summer months where the Tucson Botanical Gardens allow dog guests with their own admission of $3 per dog, per visit or a $20 season pass. NOTE: This is specifically during June through September, but we just wanted to mention it. The Botanical Gardens can be found at 2150 N. Alvernon Way.
Pima Air and Space Museum
Perhaps a surprising spot to visit with your dog but we promise Spot will love walking about these air and spacecraft exhibits! There are over 300 pieces to see and while your dog can’t go on the tram tour, a staff member will be happy to keep your pet company while you enjoy the door. The Pima Air and Space Museum is found at 6000 E. Valencia Rd.
DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun
This gallery began as a small construction site in the 50s but has since turned into a 10-acre National Historic District built by DeGrazia featuring artwork, sculptures and more. Dogs on leash are welcome and the staff are waiting to hand out treats to canine visitors. Located at 6300 N. Swan.
Along with all those go out to the Smiling Dog Ranch, Crest Trail, the Star Valley, Jacobs, Palo Verde Dog Parks or so many more! The city is littered with great parks for our four-legged friend!
